For 6 pounds, I joined the 20 minute society, where you can get a text at any random time with a location and you have 20 minutes to get there and enjoy whatever activity they have planned. I only really joined for the holiday they take. In the past, they have gone to Spain and Amsterdam, so I figured it would be beneficial if I am trying to travel to places on a budget.
For 5 pounds, I also joined the Afro-Caribbean society. I was a part of my school’s version of the club, so I figured I would join to see the difference between British and American Caribbean life.
I am also considering joint the campus television society, (who wouldn’t want to be able to say they joined a TV club in another country) or dance or something to keep me active since the gym membership is about 100 pounds, but like I said, we’ll see how things go.
The university has trial sessions for different sports and clubs. After giving trampolining a go, (and leaving early) I headed to cheerleading with my roommate, who also has a cheer background. When we got there, there were only 2 other people, which meant we would be doing some switching around.
I ended up basing, which if you know backspots, we can’t base. It was actually easier than I thought it would be. Then, someone decided that we should all get a chance to fly. It was an experience I will never forget, and everyone should experience at least flying in a prep in their lives. I’ll stick to the ground from now on however.
