Color Your World with an Ombré Calendar

As someone who cannot survive without a calendar, I did a little web surfing a few years ago and found this cute idea that I used in my dorm room. Between cheer practice, class, work, clubs, an internship and just having a social life, I needed a visual in my face to remember where I needed to be and when.

With all of the remodeling that had been done around the house over the past two years, we had tons of these laying around.

If you don’t have these, don’t worry! You can always grab some paper, paint, and create a spectrum from light to dark by mixing in white. Here’s what else you’ll need:

  • Paint swatches – If you don’t have these, you’ll need 7 different colors of paint, white paint, brushes and paper
  • Cork board
  • Tape or push pins
  • Marker

Step 1: Use the calendar on your phone to make sure you have the correct dates.

Step 2: Cut each color into a square, rectangle or shape of your choice. Create cut-outs for days of the week and months of the year as well.

Step 3: Going from left to right, arrange colors in any order you desire. From top to bottom, arrange from light to dark.

Step 4: Using a dark marker, add in the dates in the bottom corner.

Step 5: Lay out dates prior to securing to prevent having to redo it! Look up a calendar online of on your phone for accuracy. Pin or tape on.

The downside is, that if you do write on a date, you’ll have to replace it for the next month, so use a pencil or chalk. If you make multiple date squares at once, be sure to label them so you can keep the light to dark spectrum in order from month to month.

There you have it! A bright and colorful way to keep you on track every day of the week.

What crafts have you been trying?

Until next time…
