If you tuned into my last post, I gave you a preview at one of my recent fall adventures. I headed to Yonkers to Untermyer Gardens for a quick short escape from the busy city and into nature. The sky was clear and air was crisp – the perfect backdrop for a fall photoshoot.
If you have never been, get ready to become one with nature – and be prepared for some amateur hiking. There’s a longer loop and shorter loop to take around the park, a long steep stairway that leads to a point overlooking the Hudson, and the “hiking” along the longer loop.
There are a ton of pillars and long walkways lined with carefully sculpted foliage all throughout.
One of my favorite spots was the Temple of Love, a huge stone structure with multiple waterfalls carved in.
If you do choose to visit, make sure you reserve your complimentary tickets. They are released weekly, and due to COVID, restrictions apply, although at the time, they were trying to fit in walk-ins. Be sure to check the site for updates before going. We booked the earliest spot possible, and by the time we left, it was starting to get populated, so be sure to plan accordingly if you want to avoid crowds. There was plenty of parking, and it was super easy to hop on the bus with a quick walk if you’re coming from the city.
Where are your favorite fall spots around the city?
Until next time…
