Jae’s Journeys: Meet Me in Mexico

Spring is here and it’s giving me the travel bug! Last year, I grabbed my passport for a friend’s birthday and headed across the border to Mexico for a girls’ trip extravaganza.

We stayed at the Riu Puerto Vallarta, which was right on the water. For those coming from the west coast of the US, it’s a bit closer, but for us East coasters, don’t worry – the flight – about four and a half hours – flew by.

The reality was beautiful! Our room had a balcony overlooking the resort terrace. There were your typical buffet options, but also specialty restaurants from Italian to steak with amazing sunset views from while you dined.

During the day, there were fun activities from the resort crew, unlimited food and drinks. We ventured off the resort to zip through the canopies, ATV, indoor skydive and water slide all in one excursion. At night, there was not shortage of options for entertainment. Live shows each evening included audience karaoke, dances, and an all white party with music into the night – and early morning. After the show, the club doors opened for those who weren’t just quite ready for bed. Late night food options were on hand too.

We spent one day exploring the town, shopping for souvenirs and meeting some local shop owners. Hands down one of my favorite trips I’ve been on yet, but there’s definitely a lot more in store.

Stay tuned!

Until next time…
