Holiday Help: The Perfect New Year’s Eve Party

Are you looking to finish 2019 with a splash? Do you love parties? Well this is your chance to shine with your own end of the year soirée. With the new year just days away, it’s time to put the party planning committee into full swing. Here are a few tips to keep things running smoothly.

The invites

How big will this party be? Are you thinking of just having a few friends, or more of a huge open invite? This will help determine your budget, how much food, champagne, and party supplies you’ll need to purchase, and where you want to have it. Are you going all out and renting a space or will it be at your house? Remember, we all want to have a great time, but if you’re having people you don’t know over to your house, lock away any valuables.

What’s it all about?

What is the theme of your party going to be? Decide what colors you want, what decorations, party favors and what tunes are going in your playlist. While most of us sparkle with gold, black and silver into the new year, consider something a little different. Add a masquerade or Las Vegas vibe to your event.

What’s on the menu?

What kind of food are you going to serve? Do you want little pigs in a blanket, pinwheel sandwiches and wings, or are you feeling more for an adventurous spread? Pasta is always an easy, mass item for the menu, but don’t forget about your vegan and gluten-free friends. Think about a special cocktail to serve. Strawberries with champagne is a classic, but check out Pinterest for new recipes to try (Disclaimer: a trial run a few days in advance is always a good idea.) Dessert is also a must! Cupcakes and chocolate covered strawberries are an easy, cute delicious addition to the party décor.

Fun and Games

You need something besides food and music to keep people entertained throughout the night. Have a huge board people can write down a resolution on when they enter. Have a bon fire of worst 2019 memories. Consider an instant camera photo area. Create memories to last all year and beyond.

Midnight Madness

Plan something special for midnight. Turn on the TV to watch the ball drop and join in on the countdown. There are sure to be fireworks in your neighborhood, so you might want to head outside with sparklers and watch the sky light up.

Whatever you do this New Year’s Eve, make sure you are safe, smart and most importantly having fun. See you in the next decade!
